    Description

SCARCE OLD VINTAGE!!   ONLY ONE AVAILABLE!!  ONLY ONE I'VE EVER HAD!!
This is the classic Louisiana Geological Survey Bulletin 26,
    The Harang Fauna of Louisiana
. Published in 1948, this book contains 64 pages of text plus 12 additional plates of photos showing scores of good examples of the foraminifera fossils from Miocene Harang formation, plus numerous fold out charts and maps some of which are cross sections showing the interaction of salt domes penetrating the Harang formation, and an additional two charts in a pocket in the back.
The overview map shows a large region of SE Louisiana and is a classic in its own right.
This book covers foraminifera fossils of Miocene age. The purpose was to aid in correlation of strata for oil exploration, but the result is of value to any fossil collector, researcher, or hobbyist out there. The pocket charts show which fossils were collected at the various locales and depths. This is the classic red book that first put the story together on these important fossils.
All in all this is a rare publication that would make a great addition to your personal collection. Should be of interest to fossil collectors, enthusiasts, students, or anyone interested in a fascinating aspect of their state.
