NATIVE AMERICANZUNI BEADED SHAWL DANCER BY TODD PONCHO
Zuni artists are excelling in the art of beadwork, with each piece having a great amount of detail and artistry. Zuni beadwork has evolved from tourist souvenirs to detailed pieces of folk art. First the Zuni artists carve a wooden form and then they bead over it, using the peyote stitch and seed or glass beads. With a continuous strand, Zuni beaders meticulously create wonderful patterns throughout their beadwork. Zuni artist Todd Poncho hand beaded this beautiful shawl dancer with an amazing amount of detail. Todd is also a Zuni fetish carver and his fetishes are as wonderful as his beadwork. Signed.
