, there can't be many of these a
round! This 116-page book comes complete with thre fold-out parchment plates and two parchment maps in a pocket in the back. Photos of all are shown above. There are also some photos, diagrams and maps in the text.
This book discusses the important oil producing rocks of the Lower Cretaceous in this area. Similar formations in adjacent states, especially Texas, Colorado and Kansas had been well studied at the time but the outlying areas of Cretaceous rocks in Oklahoma had not even all been identified, hence this report. The author visited known an previously unknown areas and characterized the rock sequences, comparing them to similar age rock in the neighboring states. The result is this interesting book that filled in the gaps. Results of this study include a map of the outlying areas, detailed study of each, correlation with each other and neighboring areas, and an interpretation of the geologic history recorded in the rocks of the period.
Good stuff, certainly of interest to fossil collectors, geologists, students, or anyone from the western Oklahoma region looking to learn more. To find it complete and in good condition with all maps is unusual.
