Old Master Aria Rosin

Our rosins, cleaners and polishes are hand made in small batches using the finest of ingredients sourced from around the world. We make all products by hand in our Florida workshop.
Aria Rosin is still made from all natural tree resin, but, through a specialized patented process, Stravari was able to remove the allergic component of the resin. Therefore this rosin has both an amazing feel and produces a superior sound quality. It is the only hypoallergenic rosin that plays like a true rosin, because it is still rosin—not a substitute material. Moreover, because of the way Stravari Aria Rosin is processed, it has lower oxidation, which makes the rosin last longer—a fact that string musicians love to hear. Why name this product “Aria”? The name “Aria” means: air, melody, tune...an accompanied elaborate melody sung (as in an opera) by a single voice.* With this rosin, professional performers can make their instrument SING while they themselves can breathe easy. Besides being hypoallergenic, Aria Rosins are also low-dust and considered a medium rosin, which means that they play well in most climates and accommodate most playing styles. The Old Master Aria Hypoallergenic rosin offers a medium grip and leans toward a stronger pull. It works well for violin, viola and cello.

After nearly 25 years of building student to symphony level bowed instruments, we at Stravari were looking to improve on what was commercially available in traditional varnishes and grounds (under varnishes). After extensive research and countless translations of old Italian documents, we developed formulas of ground coats, oil varnishes, spirit varnishes and metallic rosinate varnishes that we felt lived up to the standards of the old world masters. Along the way we found and translated some wonderful rosin recipes dating back to the 1500’s in Italy. And from these roots our rosins were born. Old Master and Artista rosins have been formulated utilizing three distinct processes, four different tree resins and a number of additives and minerals; including 24 karat gold. Through this extensive testing and experimentation we realized our goal of bringing the finest bow rosins to the modern player.
Stravari manufactures  four distinct types of rosins:  Economical, Professional, Gold Infused and Hypoallergenic.  All (except Aria) are offered in both light and dark formulas.
