Plains Indian Talking Stick - Vintage & Strange!

Presented today is this vintage and very strange artifact, that in most of its salient features resembles a Talking Stick. It comes from an estate of a dear, departed friend who was a respected lecturer, teacher and museum curator. She was part Cheyenne, and lectured and demonstrated extensively on Plains Indian cultures. Also, in the 1960's, she
traveled the northern plains on the Pow Wow circuit, participating in dances, either singly or with a dance troupe. i believe this artifact dates from  well before that, and was part of her core collection. i must confess that i am at a complete loss as to its value, so i will leave that to you, gladly.
