    Plateau Style Bandolier Bag
This beautiful Plateau style bandolier bag is a cross body style that has roots in native American culture! It was handsewn of soft, supple deerskin and bright royal blue wool tradecloth. It has been handbeaded with geometric designs in tiny glass beads. The front flap is completely beaded and features a rich blue color and beaded tassels with handmade metal jingle cones and padre beads on the bottom edge; the flap has a trapezoidal shape with slanted sides. When you lift the flap, the front of the bag is ALSO completely beaded with another design featuring a cross! There are fringed sides to the bag. The back face of the flap and interior of the bag is fully lined with the royal blue wool tradecloth. The strap is really long and has beaded stations every few inches; it is securely riveted onto the body. The edges of the strap have piping in blue tradecloth and are whip stitched. The back face of the bag and the inside face of the strap is the natural leather.
Overall the dimensions are approx 41" L x 10" W x 2" D. The envelope compartment measures approx  12.5" H x 7.25" W.  The front flap is trimmed with drops that hang an additional 2.25" below the edge. The fringe on the sides adds another few inches to the width and hangs about 4" below the bottom of the flap. The drop length on the strap is about 24.5" L, and the strap is just shy of 2" W.
This is in excellent to very good condition. There are some irregularities in the natural leather, which is to be expected. There are some darker glue spots where knots were glued, which is standard. The only flaw I found was one of the blue tassels is missing one end, which is truly not very noticeable! I would trim back that section but left it as found.
This bag is an incredible piece of contemporary handiwork that is an homage to the bandolier bags of old. It can be worn and enjoyed since it is not an antique; it also looks lovely enough to display on the wall! Really elaborate work that is not typically done anymore.
