Sandi Dyer
Nationally recognized commercial artist Sandra "Sandi" Dyer died Saturday, April 8, 2000 after battling cancer for several months. She was only 44, the Mother of 3- and 8-year-old daughters and a 22-year-old son. Born and raised in Lyons, Kansas, she fine tuned her artistic talents at the Kansas Vocational-Technical School and began free-lance work. She then accepted a job in the Art Department of the Baptist Sunday School Board in Nashville.
She moved to Claremore in 1984. She quickly gained recognition and a loyal following of collectors with her innovative style of mixing "graphite with a spot of watercolor." Her images were most often anything to do with Will Rogers and images of Oklahoma, especially the local areas around her. Her work has been displayed in art galleries, private collections, restaurants, trading companies, and on telephone books across the United States. Her Oologah art and frame shop, Visual Expressions is shown in the illustration.
