Description
NICE PAIR OF REPORTS ON THE WACO AREA!!This is Baylor Geological Studies Bulletin #4,
The Bluebonnet Member, Lake Waco Formations (Upper Cretaceous), Central Texas - A Lagoonal Deposit
. This 46-page book was published in 1963. It is an interesting detailed report on a group of unusual Cretaceous rocks about 20 feet thick unlike those above and below. They took a detailed look at numerous localities and measured several different aspects of the rocks. They conclude that the rocks represent a lagoonal deposit, formed when a small bay or lagoon began to fill in with sediments. By small, we are actually talking about an area including parts of multiple counties!
The text contains many tables and some helpful illustrations that help tell the story. A nice book for anyone form the area, or anyone interested in the sedimentary rocks of central Texas. Measures 12x9 inches, so its a little larger than usual. See first seven photos.
BONUS: I am including with this
Baylor Geological Studies Bulletin #12,
Urban Geology of Greater Waco: Part IV Engineering - Geologic Factors Affecting Construction in Waco
. This 34-page book published in 1970 is exactly what it says - Information for builders and architects for projects in the Waco area. Lots of technical stuff on compaction, rock strength, soil parameter, etc, as they relate to various rock units in the Waco area. With some illustration and maps.
Measures 12x9 inches.
See last three photos.
