    Description

URANIUM!! HOT ITEM - BUT NOT LITERALLY!!
This is USGS Professional Paper 576-D,
    Sedimentary Rock Alteration in the
    Slick Rock District
, San Miguel and Dolores Counties, Colorado
. Published in 1976, this abunda
ntly illustrated 51-page report delves into the ore-related alteration of the rocks in the area of these significant uranium-vanadium deposits. It is part of a series of related reports on the same area.
This area was a prolific producer of uranium in times past and m
ay still have potential for new uranium discoveries. This book provides interesting insights into the localization of uranium within volumes of altered rocks. The alteration zones are larger than the deposits they encompass, so there is prospecting value in understanding the relationships. It comes with two large correlation diagrams that provide spatial and formational context for the alteration. It's a really great report for all the information, well supported by photos and diagrams.

This would be a great item for a mineral collector, prospector, historian, or armchair geologist looking to understand this important area better.
