Description
SCARCE HISTORIC ITEM!!This is USGS Bulletin 969-A,
Diamond-Drill Exploration of the Dillsburg Magnetite Deposits, York County, Pennsylvania.
Published in 1950, there can't be many of these around. The publication consists of a 27-page book and ALL TEN OF THE ORIGINAL GEOLOGIC MAPS, as shown in the photos.
This publication documents exploration activities in the Dillsburg magnetite district, where more than 1.5 million tons of iron ore were produced between 1855 and 1915. Maps 1-3 are geologic maps of the area, map 4 shows geologic cross-sections of the area, and the remaining maps are cross-sections along drillholes drilled as part of this study. It is a great publication for understanding the nature of the Dillsburg deposits that made up the second most important magnetite mining area in the region (after Yorktown). Important mines in this area were the
Underwood-Longenecker
group of mines, and the Jauss and Bell mines. This publication is complete with all the maps and is in excellent condition considering its age of over fifty years.
Please read the condition notes. Note that the first photo is the item you will receive. The other photos are stock photos, but the maps are in the same good condition.
