Description
RARE IN HARD COVERS!! PINE CREEK DISTRICT, IDAHO & MORE!!This is USGS Bulletin 710,
Contributions to Economic Geology, 1919.
Published in 1920, there can't be many of these around. The publication consists of the 248-page
hard cover
book and
all of the original geologic maps, some of which fold out, others take a page in the book.
The
Contributions to Economic Geology series of reports detailed selected new mining areas and active mining areas, mostly in the US but occasionally including other countries. This volume contains articles on the lead-zinc mining district at Pine Creek, Idaho, and manganese deposits in many locations in the US, but also including Costa Rica and Panama! The article likely to be of greatest interest is this:
A Reconnaissance of the Pine Creek District, Idaho:
A famous lead-zinc district that was active starting in around 1890. This article is 36 pages and has a foldout map of the district including locations of 32 mines by name. The district produced a great deal of lead an zinc, and was still active at the time of writing. There are other prospects as well. There are numerous discussions of many individual mines and prospects, including:

The remaining articles in the book are on manganese deposits and prospects in a number of locations with a couple fold out maps. One fold out map is of the Bisbee district in Arizona, showing some mine locations. This is a book you can literally just sit and read in its entirety, since the articles are not overly technical. I've included a picture from the Table of Contents of the list of articles in the book.
Originally issued in soft covers with terrible acidic paper, this one was saved by being rebound to nice hardcovers before incurring any damage. It is in excellent condition - as good as you could expect to find in any book a hundred years old.
Priced based on a nice, vintage, hard cover value for the Pine Creek report, judging that someone will likely buy this for just one of the articles, and that one is probably of the greatest interest.
