    Description

    INTERESTING STUDY!! COLORFUL MAP!!
This is USGS Professional Paper 586,
Geology of the Hot Sulphur Springs Quadrangle, Grand County, Colorado
. This 41-page report comes with a map in a pocket in the back. It is a nice full color map of the area with cross sections at the bottom. In the text there are other maps and some photos of interesting features in the area..
Rocks in this area range from Precambrian to fairly young. They are all well described in the text. There are complex structural relationships in the area including thrust faults which seem to have placed some of the Precambrian basement rocks on top of much younger rocks. This is a pretty cool study that delves into the geology in a thorough way. Should be of interest to geologists, arm chair geologists, or science-minded local residents. The colorful map makes the geology clear, and would look great framed and hung in a hoe or business in the area. It would be quite the conversation piece.
