Description
SCARCE ITEM!! LARGE REPORT!! ONLY ONE AVAILABLE!!This is USGS Bulletin 1188,
Geology of Northwestern North Park, Colorado
. Published in 1965, there can't be many of these around! This report consists of the map case, the 133-book, and the five original maps in the pocket, four of which are larger color sheets up to 47 inches wide.
This study covers about 340 square miles in Jackson county. The rocks consist of Precambrian Gneiss and granitic rocks (quartz monzonite to be exact), and younger, mainly mesozoic rocks that are well bedded. The various formations have been thrust over each other, creating complex map patterns that are made clearer by the many cross sections on one of the color sheets. The text details the formations and provides a very clear picture of the geology. It's a great old report on this huge area, that will keep you engaged for hours are you pore over the maps. Good stuff. Together the case with the maps and text in it is over and inch thick!
