    Description

    FEW LEFT!!!
This is USGS Bulletin 1121-G, “
Geology of the American Falls Quadrangle, Idaho
.” Published in 1963, this is a pretty scarce item. This 44-page book comes complete with all three maps, two of
    which
are FULL COLOR GEOLOGIC MAPS! This is a great old publication that details the geology of this interesting area. The 15-minute color map in this publication really makes the geology stand out, and the other maps are really helpful as well.
The geology is diverse, with formations from Silurian through Tertiary age, with a wide range of formations including igneous and sedimentary rocks. Much of the area is covered with Tertiary rhyolites and basalts, as well as younger basalts. The American Falls Reservoir is on the map, as well as Aberdeen, Idaho and the Snake River below the dam. The structure is complex with folding and faulting, and the cross sections on the map help make it all clear, even though much of the older geology is visible only in a few small windows through the younger rocks.
