    Description

CLASSIC REPORT ON THIS HUGE ACTIVE MINING AREA!!
This is USGS Professional Paper 798-B,
Geology and Geochemistry of the Copper Canyon Porphyry Copper Deposit and Surrounding Area, Lander County, Nevada.
Published in 1975, this is a scarce work, seldom seen or offered on Ebay, because mining companies gobble these things up. It consists of the 86-page book and the original
    full color map
, an additional map, plus many diagrams in the text. The color map is so big I had to take pictures of the top and bottom separately!
This location is the same as the Phoenix mine that currently produces gold, copper and silver, but it was written before the Phoenix mine developed. This report covers what is now the Phoenix mine and a considerable area around it. The full-color map is spectacular and still considered accurate today. There were earlier reports on the ore deposits of the Battle Mountain district that covered this area in less detail, but for a more modern understanding of skarns, porphyries, and the over all geology of the area, this is the one people really want, and it is scarce as a result.
This is interesting and essential reading on the porphyry-skarn mineralizing environment and the formations of the area. Written by Ted Theodore and David Blake. More important than ever since all the rocks in the West Ore Body area have since been consumed by later mining. A real classic.
