    Description

    LAST ONE!!!
    This is USGS Bulletin 944-A,
“Phosphate Deposits of the Teton Basin, Idaho and  Wyoming.”
Published in 1944, this is a scarce report on this geologically interesting area. This 36-page book comes complete with all four original maps in a pocket in the back of the book. It discusses this important formation that is widespread around the northern Rockies states. The Phosphoria is important for numerous mineral deposits, and as the source of Turritella stone, which is that agate-like rock that has hundreds of snail fossils in it.
There are even vanadium-rich layers within the formation that get a section in the book. Most of the study area is in Idaho, but part overlaps into Wyoming.
Deposits are detailed in several ranges in the area, including:
    Snake River range
    Bighole mountains
    Teton range
This is a great old report on some historic mining and exploration areas.
