This book examined three closely associated rock units whose relationships were unclear until this study. The Wissahickon gneiss and the Octoraro schist are similar in some respects, but with enough differences to draw the eye of some careful geologists who recognized the differences and the relationships between them. The story is pretty interesting, and the structure relating the formations is complex. It is amazing they solved it. The cross section sheet toward the end of the book shows just how complicated the relationships are, and likewise, what an amazing job the authors did. It all makes for interesting reading. This would be of interest to geologists, arm

geologists, local historians and residents.
Coatesville is in the north part of the study area and appears in the north end of the map. Wickerton and Landenberg and the Pennsylvania-Delaware line apper in the south of
the
map. I've included a Google Earth view of the area covered by the map - it is about 17 miles long. Overall a rare and interesting old report.
