Victorian Chimney Flue/Stove Pipe Cover

Description

This decorative flue cover would hang in a Victorian household to conceal the hole left after the chimney’s stove pipe was removed during the spring and summer months.
This oval shaped flue cover has a glass front, cardboard backing, is framed with a metal rim and a metal chain is secured to the frame for hanging purposes.
It measures approximately 10 ¼” x 8 ¾” and features a charming image of two Victorian women, one playing a period piano and the other holding white lilies.
It is in very good condition considering its age.
There is some brown discoloration, probably from moisture, to the bottom left of the picture, underneath the piano stool.
There are some manufacturing poc marks or dimples on the glass which are rather insignificant and do not detract from the picture and
minor wrinkling of the picture under the glass which is also barely noticeable.
Otherwise, this lovely flue cover maintains its vivid color and fine details, the glass is not chipped or cracked, and the metal frame and chain are intact.
It is a
n exceptional piece of artwork that also served an important function, concealing unsightly stove pipe openings.
A beautiful representation of the elegance and grace of the Victorian era, this unique flue cover could be showcased as a wall hanging or displayed on a plate stand.  Note:  Stand not included.
