    Description

Vintage 8 in. Round Flue Cover: Beautiful Woman w/bowl, 1920s?, metal “frame”
This is a lovely chimney floe cover probably from the 1920s. It features a beautiful
woman who is holding a bowl under her arm.
She has flowers in her hair and poses fetchingly.
The flue cover measures 8 in. in diameter, a typical size to cover that hole in the chimney so common in American homes that heated with coal, wood or oil in the late 19
    th
    and early 20
    th
century. The image of the woman is 5-1/2 in.
in diameter. She’s surrounded by an unusual border with gradient color (from rich rose to a light, light pink).
She is under glass with a paper backing, which was typical for the time. Her chain hanger is attached on one side of the metal “frame” (please see photo) but not the other. I’ve used this flue cover on my dresser; she always made me smile.
She’d be happy to know  that a portion of the proceeds of this sale goes to Feeding America.
