    Description

This auction is for a wonderful vintage leather pouch made by Native Americans in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
According to the tag inside, the bag or pouch was made by Spilman Morris.
The leather used for this pouch is thick, but supple, and feels more like an elk or cow or buffalo hide than regular leather.  It is in overall very nice condition with some wear and signs of age but no rips or tears.
The tag inside the bag reads, “Indian Maid” “Leathercraft” “Spilman Morris” “Albuquerque”.  I did a search on the internet but was unable to find out anything about this company.  I assume the bag was made for the tourist trade.  I’m not sure how old it is but it certainly has some age.  And, considering I was unable to find out anything about the company, I would guess 1960’s or earlier.
The pouch measures approximately 6 1/2” tall and 6 1/2’ inches across the bottom.  The leather straps pull the pouch tightly closed.
This is a lovely pouch collectors.  Thank you.
