Vintage Sioux Indian Bead Beaded Beadwork Hatband Hat Band Route 66 Souvenir

Being offered is a truly vintage, Sioux Indian, hand crafted beaded hat band.  This is loom crafted beadwork and well crafted.  The band has the classic Native Indian symbols and designs.  These were made for the early tourist trade to the southwest and places like South Dakota and Mt. Rushmore.  Typically, they were sold in tourist stores along Route 66 or at Wall Drugs in South Dakota.  The hat bend is in good condition for its age with none of the beadwork loose or missing.  The weave remains tight.  Approx. 18” long not including the threads which would be approx.. 31” long by 1 1/8” wide.
I call this Route 66 jewelry which was crafted for the tourist trade to the southwest.  These were sold in souvenir shops, tourist traps, campy Native stores, or any roadside stop set up along the highway.
One of the world’s most well-known tourist attractions, the Wall Drug Store got its start with something many wouldn’t even turn their heads at today, the promise of free ice water.  Wall Drugs has been a stop for travelers in South Dakota.  This place was known for selling Sioux Indian beadwork to tourists from the 1930's through the 1970's.  The place is still in business today selling Native Indian jewelry from all parts of the US.
