    Description

    SCARCE OLD REPORT!!
This is Wyoming Preliminary Report No 3,
The Keystone Gold-Copper Prospect Area, Albany County, Wyoming
. This is the original 1965 report. This 12 page book describes the geology and mineral deposits of this area in southern Wyoming in the Medicine Bow mountains. Gold placers were mined here, and there was some prospecting for copper as well. Mineralization is near a large rhyolite dike that stretches for miles through the area. Several mines are discussed by name, including:
    Albany mine
    Cuprite mine
    Douglas mine
    Independence mine
    Gold Crater mine
    Keystone mine
    Florence mine
    Lake Creek mine
It come with a nice map folded up in the back showing the geology of the area. Some of these mines had some pretty rich ore, and extensive underground workings. These state reports are harder to find than most USGS reports.
